April 8-22 The Earth Day Rideshare Challenge

The Earth Day Rideshare Challenge is free to your company.  By participating, employees will save gas and money while helping make a positive impact on the environment.

The Rideshare Challenge is an effective way to support clean-air initiatives.

The website Drivelesslivemore.com provides teams with everything they need.  Easy sign-up process, automated trip logging and team ranking, posters, online resources, and prizes for individuals who track their trips.

Companies with the highest percentage of employees who log rideshare trips at the website win and all teams will be publicly recognized.

Downers Grove Park District Awarded Earth Flag

On March 21, 2013 myself, Mary McKeen Founder and Executive Director of SCARCE and Pete DiCianni, Chairman of the DuPage Environmental Committee, had the honor of presenting the Downers Grove Park District with an Earth Flag. The Earth Flag recognizes accomplishments in saving energy, recycling and leadership in sustainability.  The Earth Flag Certification Program was developed by SCARCE and funded by DuPage County to help businesses and organizations become more environmentally responsible and achieve recognition for environmental efforts.

Recognized for their leadership in implementing an impressive list of sustainable accomplishments were Bob Gelwicks, Matt Cushing, Cathy Mahoney and Janet Barr.  Also recognized was Shannon Forsythe from Lyman Woods.

Ethics Training

This past Tuesday DuPage County Elected and Appointed Officials had the opportunity to attend Ethics Training.  I for one found the training to be very valuable.

It was apparent that much time and effort was put into the training. The training focused on prohibited gifts, conflicts of interest, whistleblower protection, ethics in procurement practices and prohibited political activities.

The main point I took away from the training was to avoid the appearance of impropriety at all times

You can read more about the training here:
