Having a diversified, strong economy in DuPage is critical.
It was great to represent the County Board and the DuPage Economic Development Committee at Choose DuPage's quarterly meeting last week.
We heard from Tracey Hyatt Bosman of BLS Strategies about what businesses look for when selecting a site.
DuPage has a "Goldilocks" appeal of being near enough to Chicago, yet separate from it. We offer an educated and healthy workforce, air connectivity, and a positive network analysis.
Despite problems Illinois faces, the Chicagoland metro region still has the positive connotation and respect as a global headquarter.
Here in DuPage we need to focus on opportunities for baby boomers to remain in the workforce and/or attract millenials to stay in the suburbs.
It's also critical to think regionally and promote flexible zoning for well-thought-out, mixed-use development that fosters local communities and economies where people live, work, and recreate.
Thank you Tracey for your insight! I am excited to continue working this vision in DuPage.
