mportant things for Veterans to know:
New rules are making health insurance coverage easier to get. If you have had problems getting quality healthcare coverage for you or your family in the past, whether it was from high costs or pre-existing conditions, the State of Illinois is working to make sure coverage options are available for you.
Through the Healthcare Marketplace open enrollment period, Illinois residents – many of whom never had health insurance – now have access to affordable coverage options. Every day, more and more Illinoisans are exploring their options through Get Covered Illinois. If you are not currently enrolled in a VA healthcare plan, you can take the first step to getting coverage with Get Covered Illinois.
• If you are 30 or under, you may be eligible to stay on your parents’ plan in Illinois.
• If you are currently enrolled in the Veterans health care program, CHAMPVA, the Spina bifida health care program, or TRICARE, you do not need to make any changes. You are already covered.
• If your dependents do not have coverage, they may be eligible for financial help on the Marketplace or for coverage through Medicaid or All Kids.
If you or anyone you know is looking for coverage, there are a few free ways to get help exploring options. Take the first step today.
